NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN PUBLIC SECTOR ACCOUNTING

If you want to work in finance in government or municipalities, this is the programme to study. It’s been designed to equip students with the knowledge that will help government run more productively. You’ll learn how to produce high quality financial statements, implement basic internal controls, conduct effective internal auditing, and apply sound accounting and financial principles.

• Introduction to income tax
• Payroll administration
• Employees’ tax
• Accounting for payroll
• Completing tax returns
• The structure of the South African public sector
• The role of the financial management system in the public sector
• Revenue as a key aspect of public financial management
• Expenditure as a key aspect of public financial management
• The legislative framework governing financial management in the public sector
• Ethics in the South African public sector Introduction to supply chain management Introduction to cash management
• Introduction to credit management

The learner will be assessed on a Portfolio of Evidence (PoE), summative and formative assessments.

DURATION AND MODE OF DELIVERY
The duration for this course is 3 months and is delivered through face-to-face classes
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

• Grade 11, NQF L3 or equivalent.
• No prior accounting knowledge needed
• You must be at least 16 years old
